How to choose a hospital abroad

Compare the treating team, location and care arrangements before choosing a hospital.

Begin with the care you need, rather than a hospital ranking. Identify the relevant department, confirm that it reviews your type of request and ask who will lead the consultation. A familiar hospital-group name does not identify the exact campus.

Compare proposals using the same questions. Look at the procedure named, investigations, room category, specialist fees, medicines and follow-up. Ask how the estimate changes if additional care is required.

Consider the practical experience for you and your companion: language support, transport, accessibility, nearby accommodation and the contact for urgent questions during the visit. Keep these arrangements in writing.

Before making a commitment, check payment instructions through a verified channel and ask about cancellations or rescheduling. Your clinical assessment and the provider’s confirmation should guide the next step.
